Terms & Conditions

1. General Overview

By applying to join the Otago Artisan Market Online Shop or Creative Artisan Directory, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These packages allow artisans to showcase and sell their products through the Otago Artisan Market website, with Otago Artisan Market handling product photography, sales, and fulfilment.

2. Eligibility

  • Businesses must be based in the Otago area.

  • Applicants must have attended at least one Waikouaiti Artisan Market as a stallholder.

  • No website or social media is required to participate.

3. Fees & Commission

  • Directory Listings: Free for stallholders who book 4 or more markets per year. Otherwise, $10/month.

  • Sales Platform: No monthly fee. Products are listed for free.

  • Commission: A flat 12% per sale, deducted before payment to the stallholder. This commission covers photography, upload, storage, fulfilment, and delivery handling.

4. Product Listings

  • Stallholders may provide products for listing at any time.

  • Stock rotation is encouraged every 3 months to keep listings fresh.

  • Otago Artisan Market will provide product photography to ensure consistency and quality across the platform.

5. Consignment & Stock

  • Products listed for sale must be provided to Otago Artisan Market on consignment.

  • Stallholders are responsible for delivering consignment stock to Otago Artisan Market for processing.

  • Unsold products can be rotated or collected at any time by arrangement.

6. Shipping & Fulfilment

  • Otago Artisan Market will manage the packing and shipping of all sold products.

  • Postage costs are calculated by size and weight and charged directly to the customer at checkout.

  • For local orders (Waikouaiti/Palmerston), Otago Artisan Market may personally deliver items.

  • If an item is damaged during shipping, Otago Artisan Market will take full responsibility for the cost, as packing and shipping are handled by us.

7. Payments & Reporting

  • Payments for sold items will be made to stallholders on a fortnightly basis.

  • A sales report detailing sales and remaining stock will be provided monthly.

8. Marketing & Promotion

  • All directory listings and shop products may be promoted through the Otago Artisan Market’s website, social media, email newsletters, and local publications.

  • Stallholders may be featured in promotional material at the discretion of Otago Artisan Market.

9. Cancellations & Stock Returns

  • Stallholders may withdraw from the directory or shop at any time by providing at least 14 days’ notice.

  • Any consigned products must be collected within 14 days or returned at the stallholder’s expense.

10. Liability & Product Responsibility

  • Otago Artisan Market is not responsible for product faults or defects. If a customer requests a return due to product quality issues, the stallholder will be contacted to determine the next steps.

  • Otago Artisan Market will work with both the customer and the stallholder to ensure a resolution in line with New Zealand’s Consumer Guarantees Act.

11. Amendments to Terms

Otago Artisan Market reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Stallholders will be notified of any significant changes.

12. Agreement

By submitting an application form and listing products through the Otago Artisan Market Online Shop or Creative Artisan Directory, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
